Sure enough, when I got closer there was a little calf in the grass in front of her.
Now, its a running joke that our bull only throws bull calves. After all he's 9 for 9. The chances of 9 of the same are 1/256. But that's not true anymore. This was a little heifer calf! and from a milk cow!
I scooped up the little girl, threw her on my shoulders between Lydia and my head, and we walked the 1/2 mile back, with the phlegmatic cow, steadily following. Wonderful, cute and clean. Perfect.
Oh, and Duchess our dog had 7 good-sized puppies and is taking excellent care of them. 6 black, with very small white markings, and one brown. Buddy is a Daddy!
Spring is a wonderful time to be on the farm.
